It was a Pleasure!

It was the 10th anniversary of the Pleasure Jam on Dachstein and this is also the start of the filming season at Qparks. It was my third year there and it was probably the most fun so far.

Basti always prepares an interesting concept for the main clip, this time it will be all macro stuff. It was super cool to get a totally different perspective on things… can’t wait!

Second thing was that pretty much everyone from our (expanded) snowboard scene were there. It was nice to see everybody on the spot. Urška even took the 3rd place at the event to keep the vibes up on the windiest day on the mountain ever… Congrats!

West to East Austria

I had jing-jang weekend for Qparks in Austria.

Kaprun Oakley shoot was in the prefect weather, new snow, warm and sunny. Planneralm on the other hand was cloudy, wet snow and getting worse by the minute. But the important thing is that both were fun and real easy to shoot, we just basically had fun in the mountains for two days. Did some night time timelapses and various scenics for the Untouched in the free time, hehe.

I also got to see the culuars that are made in Kaprun (waiting for Maček) and at last it started to snow, even in Slovenia. Can not wait for the next sunny day… it is on!

Kitzbuhel with DC Europe

This weekend I had the coolest Qparks shoot in Kitzbuhel.

The DC Europe guys had a shoot on the big kicker, which was built a week ago. It is 18m table and super long inrun and landing. I was really happy when I saw it from the lift, I love to film big kickers and it is rare to get a shoot on stuff like this.

We had one really cold day, just doing laps around the park and one nearly perfect day with sun and no wind for the big one. The crew was super relaxed and motivated at same time, so it was fun and easy. I tried to film a follow from sled but it was way to shaky, so I had to do it “manually”. One of the fastest runs I ever rode with a camera, haha.

Clip in few days…

It is not Sunday everyday

I had a shoot for Qparks in Planneralm today and the best thing was that I was able to take more riders with me than usual. Pristo, Podli and Agi were up for the go and Katja joined to take pictures, so we were packed, hoping for a good park and maybe even some pow. There we should meet with Filip, Tom, Michael and second filmer Killian, so I was looking forward to a serious highlight filming.

It turned out that the forecast with sun in the morning and snowflakes in the afternoon was a bit early. We drove into full on cloudy, snowy and super freezing day. Shit happens sometimes, in a way it is funny, we drove seven hours for a cup of tea, haha.

Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam 2011

Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam is the first big event of the season and it is organized in Superpark Dachstein, which is build and maintained by Qparks.

This year the level was just off the hook, riders stomping doublecorks and 10s already in qualification, but everybody pushed it even more in the finals. The winners where Seppe Smiths from Belgium and Amy Fueller from England and Slovenia also had its representatives, with Cilka Sadar coming in second in girl division. Congrats!

I was picked to be a part of the video team again and this year everything considering my work was really well thought and set. The hungarian video wizard, Hambalko Balint, and I were the filmers for the daytime, while the head of filmers at Qparks, Basti Funk, was the editor at night. It was really great to work with them and I think we made a great job.

You can check what went down for three days in the video below…

Last winter shooting

I came back from my last Qparks shooting in Kaprun. I was on Kitzsteinhorn for the last stop of Qparks Tour and Matevž Maček from Untouched and Andraž Šparovec from Jibrothers were nice enough to join me. It was actually a good decision to go, while Kitzsteinhorn got 40cm of new snow a week ago and it stayed fresh in the shadows. Guys did some hiking and we managed to shoot some banger lines right after the contest. I think the picture tells it all!

After we got to see Colby West on mega kicker (local parkdesigner Stefan Plattner stepped in for the snowboarders and he was all balls too) with more than a kilometer inrun. You do not get to see double corks on a special obstacles live everyday, haha.

Soelden part 2.

Shooting freeride is what I love the most, probably cause anything pretty much looks great when you get loads of fresh snow, hehe.
Qparks sent Untouched crew in Soelden and it turned out to be the radest place for freeriding. Like everywhere in Alps the whole mountain could really use some hard snowfall but there was some fresh pow nontheless. We got a guide/photographer Rudi Wyhlidal, who knows this place like his own pocket and makes super great photos.
The first day the whole mountain was in a cloud so Bine, Matevž and I just checked the place out and got pumped for the second day. We woke up into a bluebird skies and it was on! We hit the gullies for breakfast, got some pow turns and then moved upper the glacier. We were looking for a nice spot to build a kicker but the snow conditions just didn`t allow big jumps while the rocks were somewhere just inches bellow the surface. But there are some really nice spots we would gladly return to…
Rudi showed us some fun pillows and smaller lines and even I got some turns in between shoots which just made my day.
Next day we were so motivated that we went back first thing in the morning and shoot some more stuff before the Freestyle Feast begun. Guys went chillin, I went filming and after such good start everything falls into place by itself… Enjoy the video!

Soelden part 1.

Last weekend I have spent in Soelden for two seperate shootings for Qparks. We did some freeriding with Untouched crew (more about that in the next blog) and I had to cover Soelden Freestyle Feast 2011. It was super mellow gettogether, sunny weather, great tunes and good vibes. Goodies and some cash was handed over for best tricks and we had a blast jam session with Ooz and speaker Jonel after the showdown. Check the video for more…
