Loveolution III droppin’ soon!

I met Seppi Scholler a.k.a. Dr. Love two years ago in Laax and we just clicked instantly.

He is one hella motivated guy, always down for anything and 24/7 one man show. We had two filming missions this year, one really successful and one crazy scouting for the last patches of snow, haha.

He and the rest of the guys at Love Distribution are dropping a new video soon, it is the third in the row of Loveolution series. With names like Seppi, Marc Swoboda, Dominik Wagner, Matevž Pristavec and more, it is looking to be crazy! Check the trailer below…

Bamboo presents Good Times Rollin’!

“Good times rollin’” is the upcoming snowboard film by Bamboo Motion Pictures.

I had the pleasure of filming with two of the guys riding for them, Rudi Janda and Gerald Fuchs, when we were on a mission in Helsinki. They are super cool guys and the rest of the crew ripps as well, so its going to be on hell of a video.

Check the trailer below, full movie drops in Fall 2011!

First in series of Ujuclips

As you know I take care of video stuff at Ujusansa. In summer my work consists of mainly filming everything that goes down in the camp and putting together clips for every group.

One clip per group consists of waves they surfed, so they can show their moms, grandmas and friends whats up and maybe brag a little, haha.

The second one, called Ujuclip, is more all around vibe type. It is pretty standardized as far as “story” goes, yet I tried to play around with timelapses and night shots a lot, while I am totally fascinated by the power of DSLRs and remote controllers.

Here is the first in the series of Ujuclips, they are coming up until the end of September, but I will not be posting them all. You can see them on Ujusansa’s Vimeo site.

Capbreton Dawn Patrol

I am back at work in Zarautz and first thing I had to do, was catching up with surfing, hehe.

Katja Pokorn and Domen Bizjak, members of Untouched Crew, are also here, so we did some short trips. We caught few glassy sessions in nearby Deba for starters, which is not so common in Spain when the swell hits.

Main course was a trip to Capbreton, France, full on dawn patrol, but well worth the pain. After two hours of sleep and some chocolate croissants we were ready for the fast shorebreak action near the picturesque WW2 bunkers.

Pirate holidays

When I started to skate, the culture was all about punk rock and hardcore. It engulfed riding, music and attitude and that will probably stick with my perception of what skateboarding should be forever. And I will be a skateboarder forever. Period!

Past weekend we had an unique opportunity to see and hear a handful of punk rock legends and heroes of our youth at Punk Rock Holiday 1.1 in Tolmin. Bad Religion, NoFX, Strung Out, Hot Water Music, Real Mckenzies, Bouncing Souls… to name just a few, plus some great less famous bands (Street Dogs, Total Chaos…).

It was just ragging three days of beer, grill, eye-patches, water diving, midnight boxing punch-outs and all around shenanigans! It was one of thoose vacations you get home more beat up than before you left. And I mean literary, haha!

Concrete waves of Basque (part 1): Orio gem

It has been a very busy month at Ujusansa surf camp for me… filming, searching, surfing on daily basis! There is always something going on, so you quickly forget about internet, TV and shaving, haha.

But skateboarding is something that never goes off my mind, especially in a land where every single beach is hiding at least some sort of miniramp, if not a proper bowl or skateplaza.

This gem of a miniramp is in nearby Orio, a small pirate-looking town, circa 15 minutes away. At first it looks like it is hardly rideable as it is steep as hell, yet once you drop in is like riding on a wave. Sick!

Short film “Surfing Basque Country”

This is my first sort of scripted short film that I filmed past summer in Spain, where I work for Ujusansa surf camp.

“Surfing Basque Country” is a three month filming project and I mainly tried to show you the vibes of Basque Country and the way we spent our summer. At first I wanted to do a documentary type of thing, with the voiceover and all, but when I looked at the bigger picture, it would be way over the top. I think its a fun little video that says it all and should be taken with ease, just like in true Basque spirit, haha.

Hope you like it!

Barbariga at last!

We do not get to surf very often in Adriatic, maybe like 20 to 30 days per year, and its always Medulin. But there is a nice lefthander in Barbariga that works maybe once a year, when the winds, tides and stars align just right.

After five or more unsuccessful check-ups in past three years, we finally nailed it on Sunday! Although it was small to medium size for this spot, it is for sure the best wave near Slovenia and it was International Surfing Day, therefore the best possible time to get a ride there!

Eat my dirt!

My friends at Mountainboard Slovenia started to build a mountainboard track under our local hill. There is a cool short video on their site to get a clue whats up.

I have to many hobbies and to little time already, but this looked so much like snowboarding, I just knew this is it, haha. We have been improving and shredding the course for the past month and it just gets sicker and longer every week. Its a perfect starting point and the crew is super cool there, so don not hesitate to drop by if you are in need of some summer freeride stoke!

Medulin gathering

Few days ago me and few friends went to Medulin to catch some waves before leaving for Spain at the end of June.

The forecast was tricky (isn`t it always?), but everybody went with the “if you don`t go, you don`t know” system and everything turned in an unplanned slovenian surf community gettogether. Waves were small yet glassy, so everyone got a bite!
