Inmate video premieres on national TV

My first music video premiered on national TV… pretty tight!

Inmate band are releasing their debut album and had an interview in a music show on RTV Slo, called Aritmija.

It has been pretty wild road for them, touring Germany with big names like Dark Tranquility, going through various changes and recording the album (the right way) all over again. Finally, the album goes out this weekend, accompanied with their first music video and the concerts following… check it all out on the link below!

West to East Austria

I had jing-jang weekend for Qparks in Austria.

Kaprun Oakley shoot was in the prefect weather, new snow, warm and sunny. Planneralm on the other hand was cloudy, wet snow and getting worse by the minute. But the important thing is that both were fun and real easy to shoot, we just basically had fun in the mountains for two days. Did some night time timelapses and various scenics for the Untouched in the free time, hehe.

I also got to see the culuars that are made in Kaprun (waiting for Maček) and at last it started to snow, even in Slovenia. Can not wait for the next sunny day… it is on!

It is not Sunday everyday

I had a shoot for Qparks in Planneralm today and the best thing was that I was able to take more riders with me than usual. Pristo, Podli and Agi were up for the go and Katja joined to take pictures, so we were packed, hoping for a good park and maybe even some pow. There we should meet with Filip, Tom, Michael and second filmer Killian, so I was looking forward to a serious highlight filming.

It turned out that the forecast with sun in the morning and snowflakes in the afternoon was a bit early. We drove into full on cloudy, snowy and super freezing day. Shit happens sometimes, in a way it is funny, we drove seven hours for a cup of tea, haha.

Planneralm sessions

The shooting with Jibrothers for Qparks on Planneralm was one of the best, period.

We drove into a foggy resort, filled with fresh snow. Did some lines, knee deep pow, certainly best breakfast a guy can have anytime in winter.

Later the skies cleared out, sun and bluebird for the rest of the day. Filmed a mellow session with skiers Andraž Šparovec and Uroš Podbevšek and another one with snowboarders Matthias Gober, Flo Galler and Dominick Weghaupt and still had time for another quick powder run before the sunset. Baus day, haha.

Introducing: Rudi Janda in Good Times Rollin’

Rudi was the second guy I met filming in Helsinki, Finland. He is a funny guy that never gives up and I had a lot of fun just hanging around with him, let alone filming.

Few days ago Bamboo Motion Pictures introduced their full video, called Good Times Rollin’, which is defenetly worth checking out. Click below and enjoy Rudi’s part… if you want to see the whole video, follow this link

Last surf session before the winter

It is finally getting colder and it even started to snow in the higher mountains of the Julian Alps.

Cyclones that bring the most snow to Slovenia, arrive over France, continue their way below the Alps in Italy and bring southern winds over Adriatic Sea. Which in short means waves. Once or twice per year we get lucky and the front makes a sharp turn and the winds turn southwest. Then it is time to check Barbariga.

The forecast was looking really nice and we were hoping to ride some sizable lefts, yet the weather had its own plan, I guess. We got a waist high chop, but it was fun anyway. I also did some filming for my “no deadline” Slovenian surf documentary, because like I said, it is rare to get a chance to surf Barbariga and this is also a (big) part of what surfing on “home turf” means for Slovenian soul surfers…

Extreme sports equals hospital visits

My friend and Untouched crew member, Bine Žalohar, has finished his season before it started. He tore his ACL and will miss a large part of winter, yet he is in good spirits and already planning filming trips for the summer.

I went with him to the hospital yesterday, in order to get some shots of the doctor and cliche stuff like that, but hospital workers are not really fond on filmers. In times like that, you have to be pretty resourceful. A little talking, a little begging and even a little help from Bine’s mom gets you places, places like MRI room, haha.

I wish Bine a light speed recovery and hope we will film on snow next time!

Unussual jobs: Filming a political add

Politics never really interested me, while I am down with laws of nature and personal happiness, other than rules that money, society, church and traditions try to apply on you.

It is the last week before the parliament elections in Slovenia and the race to the throne is in its last stage. Today I got an early morning call from a friend, asking for a filmer on a very short notice. We were supposed to go somewhere in the nature and do an add for one of the fresher political parties. At first I was kind of puzzled, but I tend to look on things with an open mind, so I saw this as an opportunity to learn and work on something completely out of my character.

It was a really nice day in the hills above the fog, which we are trapped in for more than two weeks now, and I got a little insight on how things work when you are trying to make it to national TV. You live, you learn…
