Inmate video premieres on national TV

My first music video premiered on national TV… pretty tight!

Inmate band are releasing their debut album and had an interview in a music show on RTV Slo, called Aritmija.

It has been pretty wild road for them, touring Germany with big names like Dark Tranquility, going through various changes and recording the album (the right way) all over again. Finally, the album goes out this weekend, accompanied with their first music video and the concerts following… check it all out on the link below!

Every snowflake counts

Every year we get some days, when snow embraces the cities. Since we were kids we always went jibbing some skaterail, but nowadays we use this days (or mostly nights) for filming real spots.

Jibrothers are on a mission all day, every day, so I got a message that we should go filming today, before I took a look through the window and noticed we got 10cm of white outside.

We gathered lights and shovels that have been waiting too long and hit the streets. Šparovc got two tricks in the bag in front of the mandatory crowd and the celebratory 2AM beer was well deserved. More to come in next days…

Luka Bizjak’s old footy edit

Luka Bizjak is one of rare young generation Slovenian rippers. I think he is pretty much one of three kids from Slovenia, who can skate up to European standards right now.

Bizi was a killer since day one, you could see that the raw talent accompanied with clean and mellow style is gonna take him places. We had a lot of super underrated skateboarders coming from Kranj and wider area, like Mitja Močnik and Aleš Perčič, and there is Uroš Kovač, who is a beast and surely one of the best Slovenian skateboarders of all times, but they never got the credit they really deserved. With Luka things are luckily going into different direction.

Over the past years we became good friends and filmed a lot for various sponsor me tapes, that never were allowed to get published due to reasons unknown to me and Luka being a very loyal kid, did not want to get in trouble for it. But finally the time is here and you got a collection of Luka’s mad skills in a short edit below… enjoy!

Jibrothers in Planica

Today we got a little crew together and went for the first winter shots for the Jibrothers.

Andraž Šparovec, Agron Imeri and Uroš Podbevšek were eager to hit one of the most known rails in Planica, the home of the famous skiflying construction. The jumping hill is not the biggest anymore, but you can not erase the historical events that happened on this thing.

Anyway, we were more interested in rails around and it was a good decision, while it was the only place with enough snow in the streets in westerly part of Slovenia. There are three rails and everybody usually rides the shortest one, yet the Jibrothers pushed it up a notch and picked the middle one. I tested the new tripod (it is banging) and we got two shots and few pictures, which is a good start for the upcoming season.

Untouched project’s new webpage released today!

The new official page of the Untouched project is finally polished and ready!

I have been pretty picky about the design, but in the end, I think we managed to get a really clean look with a nature feel and fine presentation. Guys at Lono did a superb job and I would like to thank them for all the hours, energy and nerves spent on the design and programing.

Last surf session before the winter

It is finally getting colder and it even started to snow in the higher mountains of the Julian Alps.

Cyclones that bring the most snow to Slovenia, arrive over France, continue their way below the Alps in Italy and bring southern winds over Adriatic Sea. Which in short means waves. Once or twice per year we get lucky and the front makes a sharp turn and the winds turn southwest. Then it is time to check Barbariga.

The forecast was looking really nice and we were hoping to ride some sizable lefts, yet the weather had its own plan, I guess. We got a waist high chop, but it was fun anyway. I also did some filming for my “no deadline” Slovenian surf documentary, because like I said, it is rare to get a chance to surf Barbariga and this is also a (big) part of what surfing on “home turf” means for Slovenian soul surfers…

Comment Last surf session before the winter

JugoMajstr2011 waiting period started…

Every year Ujusansa organizes slovenian national championships in surfing, called the JugoMajstr a.k.a. Master of the South winds. It takes place in Medulin, Croatia, which is a little strange for “nationals” to be held in foreign country, but for Slovenian surfers it is the closest surfbreak, like it or not.

The first one was in 2006 and it was basically a soul session of few guys, yet in past few years the slovenian surf community grew to a point where we have more than forty competitors applying, some also from Austria, Hungary and even Brazil. It got a little bit serious, a bit better organized and maybe even a bit more fun, while you get pretty much all your surfer friends in one place for a day or two.

Medulin is a good break, yet it works mostly in winter time, thus the late season call. We call it cold winter classic, because booties and hoddies are sort of mandatory to last more than an hour in the lineup, haha.

The teaser below is from last year, but anyway, you can get a pretty good picture what we are hoping for… more info about the competition here

Concrete waves of Cantabria (part 11): Noja

I always check for good skateparks around where we travel and this one in Noja, Cantabria, looked really worth checking out.

It is a combination of a snake run, miniramp and a pool end, all in one bowl! Sadly it is not well maintained. You can just ride the ramp part or pump around, which is not how you would go at it, if the top layer would not be in such bad shape. I was really bummed, but the crazy graffiti were something cool to see…
