Smiley faces

I have been working for an advertising agency Fini Mediji for few weeks and it is pretty fun, while they do all sorts of guerrilla promotions.

Yesterday we did an action for Slovenia’s most classic icecream, Planica. Filming is total chaos, hiding, running and mainly shooting from hand, but thats what I was kinda missing after all the high tech gadgets and epic shots became mandatory for every little thing, hehe.

On the spot I am in my own world of sorts, so I did not fully comprehend, that a free pop-sickle on a scorching day brings out some much positive vibes. Sounds kinda gay, but it was nice to see random folk so genuinely happy in the moment… small things that make your day, hehe.

High speed paraski in Planica

Today I finally met Gal Jakič, Slovenian paraskier, a competitor in fast disciplines and an all around skier who likes to try new stuff in his spare time. We are also hoping to get some of his powder shots for the Untouched project and I it was nice to see his face after all the mails, hehe.

We went to Planica, our biggest hill jump, which used to be the largest in the world and where people have flow over 100m and 200m barriers for the first time in history.

Gal will be riding a flag down the hill on Saturday’s opening ceremony, so he wanted to try how much speed and control he will have. It is a giant steep slope and you are measured to get more than 100kmh till the end. And there is no other way than just going straight!

He was pretty confident and relaxed in the car, but naturally got a bit stage fright, when we parked in the run out. After seeing this happen the next moment, he got even more concerned, but shook it off instantly and started preparing.

He handled it with ease, went for two times and got over 120kmh mark. Pretty inspiring…

Jibrothers in Planica

Today we got a little crew together and went for the first winter shots for the Jibrothers.

Andraž Šparovec, Agron Imeri and Uroš Podbevšek were eager to hit one of the most known rails in Planica, the home of the famous skiflying construction. The jumping hill is not the biggest anymore, but you can not erase the historical events that happened on this thing.

Anyway, we were more interested in rails around and it was a good decision, while it was the only place with enough snow in the streets in westerly part of Slovenia. There are three rails and everybody usually rides the shortest one, yet the Jibrothers pushed it up a notch and picked the middle one. I tested the new tripod (it is banging) and we got two shots and few pictures, which is a good start for the upcoming season.
