Best getaway ever

I was getting really feed up with editing for the past month and it is clearly not a good time for this… but south winds and Adriatic sea really came my way!

We still had some heats to run for JugoMajstr, so the comp was set for Thursday. But it looked kind of doable also a day before, so we went for a little “mind off, wax on” getaway.

First day we got pretty big, mushy waves and it was all about power and speed… a little sketchy at times, but after a week of webcast from 5-8ft at Sunset, Hawaii, it felt so good to get some heavy rides (and wipeouts of course, hehe).

Second day we ran the contest in the morning and got a super fun glassy session after… I managed to check second option for the POV shots from water (first time I got a bit unlucky, remember) and got the best wave count in a single session ever, no joke! Click for more pics…

So tired, yet so pumped to get back on the Untouched project… stay tuned!

Medo semis

Pleasure Jam is always exhausting and I planned to get some quality rest… until I realized I am competing in JugoMajstr semifinals today!

It was not the best conditions, I guess we all thought it is going to be a lot bigger, but whatever, you don’t get to surf in Adriatic that often. I decided to get some water footy while in contest, just to combine work and fun… never hurts to stock some Medulin footy, hehe.

The Old, the Young and the Sea

My good friend Basti Funk is also an enthusiastic surfer and we spent a week of soul tripping around northern Spain last year together. He introduced me one of the most intriguing projects, “The Old, the Young and the Sea” by the Nomad Earth production.

It is about “the people who inhabit, visit, surf and protect” the coasts from France to Portugal, known as “European surf highway”, which is what most of us do in the summer. I had gathered loads of footy in the past four years from all this places, so he invited me to help them out with my archive. I also offered to help him film while we were on the road, why I really enjoy working with him and always learn a lot on the way. We had super good times, surfed breaks I have never been to and saw a great part of Spain, so I enjoyed every bit of it.

Here is the first teaser for the project and make sure to check out all about it on the website

First day back… already packing for more!

I spent past two months in Ujusansa surf camp, worked and surfed my ass off, haha.

It was rad as ever, cool crew, cool kids and banging surf conditions for a generally pretty average break. And with no lack of good skateparks nearby even downdays are rideable…

It was hot as hell all the time, no wetsuits for weeks, but who would complain over that one, hehe…

Also check more of Katja’s Surf-a-grams to stay in tune with the happening in Spain…

I will be posting the new series of Ujuclips tomorrow before the Untouched crew hits the road to Chile! It is going to be a blast for sure!

Went skateboarding day

Today was the annual “go skateboarding day”, a tradition which started in 2004.

KDC does not really need a yearly reminder about that, as we skate as much as we can anyways, hehe.

We also found some cool hills these days and Šmid, who is all about speed, finally got some footy. Kids wear gloves and helmets… falling takes toll every single time. Longboarding is fun as hell thou!

Special thanks goes to Chouka who gave us a gem, it is a perfect one… thanks buddy!

Wheels and hills

I have been working on all sorts of projects these days, some for the money, some for the soul… but finally took some time for just pure pleasure, hehe.

Last call before rainy days, we went for the hills after a pretty long time. Luka got himself a new bomber, the board feels like snowboarding on asphalt and brought the longboarding vibes back to the KDC crew. The search for the perfect country road continues…

Dachstein Love week

Snow shootings are pretty much over, glacier season is on… it is chill time.

Love organized a team week on Dachstein and unfortunately I had no time to film with them this year, so I was hyped to see my friends after a long time. It was more or less sun bathing, beers and doing laps with homies. I am sort of fed up with parks at the end of every winter, yet I had a blast! Now, I even plan to get back soon as possible, haha.

Thanks Seppi for everything… Love podcast should be online in a week, so stay tuned!

3 Second Movie Contest

Surfrider Foundation put out an interesting video contest. The edit has to be something about water and three seconds long. Yep, three seconds!

I usually have to convince people that less is more and that nobody watches a seventeen minute long reports about some random happening, so this thing was challenging from the get go.

Katja and me both had an idea about it, but could not decide which one flies better. So I did both, one more serious and one that is supposed to be funny. Check them below…
