First day of surfing nationals

Jugo Majster is an annual surf contest, where slovenian waveriders get together, tell stories about summer trips and enjoy some “competitive” heats.

While the conditions are super hard to tell, the waiting period stretches over few months, but November holidays always bring some days in the water. Thursday was the first day we tried to make it happen, but it all turned into a layday. Winds were simply to strong to keep the faces standing, let alone to get a fair heat for everybody. Everybody got to freesurf, so nothing was lost basically, hehe.

I wanted to leave early, but Katja convienced me to take a quick peek at Barbariga. Good call,  I got one of the top three sessions in Adriatic and still returned home before dark!

Run to the hills

Autumn colors are taking over and it is a perfect time to catch the last warm days and enjoy the outdoors.

I kinda missed out on (non snow related) mountaineering for the past three years, so I got really hyped when ideas about climbing some peaks started flying. My friends and I hiked the whole weekend, a bit for fun and a bit for spot searching. Got to know where to go when all is trapped in whites, hehe.

According to the media we are looking into one hell of a winter, starting with this weekends snowfall… would be about time, so bring it!

Colours event teas

Colours is a artist collective based in my home town, Kranj. They say that “…in music no size, shape or colour is inappropriate. Anything goes. It’s just how creative you are in welding them together thus building your own rainbow of sounds. As colours are, music can also be artificially composed or purely organic. It can fade away in a couple of moments after it was revealed or it can last forever. Some might like it and some might not. It triggers emotions. It takes you away. It connects you to other beautiful minds. It can work as a background for your personal soul-searching or as a media for expressing your deepest passions, moods and feelings. Anything that you see or imagine while listening to the music, no matter how tangible or abstract, bares some dye. Welcome to our world of Colours in which we’ve combined the power of music with the influence of colours.”

It is super nice to be part of a creative group like this, we already have some cool ideas for their campaign, so stay tuned!

Here is the teaser for their upcoming event in K4, drop by and show your true colours…

Loveolution 4 is on its way!

Love is droppin’ their fourth video and here is a short teas of what to expect… from sketchy streets to backcountry double corks, spiced with some other extreme stuff from the Love family, it is for sure something to look forward!

Sadly I have not got the time to film with them as much as I would like for this one, but I sent them footy from Untouched‘s finest, Matevž Pristavec, so click for a little sneak peak…

No more travels… for now :)

I just returned from Basque country with Untouched crew, where we spent two weeks surfing with Ujusansa and it was good times as always. It was battery recharging to the fullest, like reading books on the sunny terrace and stuff like that, haha.

Yet, it is really nice to be back home for a change. Don’t get me wrong, it is a gift, when you get to travel, but after a year mostly on the road, I need to spent some time with homies in Kranstrdam and focus all of my energy on one sole project… the Untouched project.

More pictures from our stay in Spain on Untouched blog… check it out and call for a beer or a miniramp session!

The Old, the Young and the Sea

My good friend Basti Funk is also an enthusiastic surfer and we spent a week of soul tripping around northern Spain last year together. He introduced me one of the most intriguing projects, “The Old, the Young and the Sea” by the Nomad Earth production.

It is about “the people who inhabit, visit, surf and protect” the coasts from France to Portugal, known as “European surf highway”, which is what most of us do in the summer. I had gathered loads of footy in the past four years from all this places, so he invited me to help them out with my archive. I also offered to help him film while we were on the road, why I really enjoy working with him and always learn a lot on the way. We had super good times, surfed breaks I have never been to and saw a great part of Spain, so I enjoyed every bit of it.

Here is the first teaser for the project and make sure to check out all about it on the website

Chile experience with Untouched project

This year I have been traveling a lot, mostly thanks to snowboard/ski related matters. We have been doomed in the past two winters and had to chase snow like we usually chase waves here on the “inland”. Search is always on, hehe.

Untouched project‘s main skier, Bine Žalohar, had a misfortunate injury in the start of our second filming season, so we were at a crossroad… should we make a snowboarding only video or push over our budget, put in some own and get stuff done in summer. Four heads looked at each other and smiled… it was on, we are going to Chile!

I always had a great wish to go to South America, but it is funny to drop there in summer and basically hit the middle of winter… Sanka moment on the airport, haha.

Discovering a big and totally new country, trying to get good powder shots and gain some travel experience was super stressful and amazing at the same time. We visited three ski regions, surfed, partied, hottubed, BBQed with locals… and drove and hiked more than ever in my life. Yet, we can say with out a doubt that we got lots of what we wanted and more… Chile is a nice place to be.

Thanks to the rest of the crew for putting such an effort in… Bine was sick pretty much the whole trip, but really came through with the sheer determination to get his share in the video (also cooked and drove most of the time), Maček was the proper balkan PR/manager like always and became some sort of an director/screenwriter in the mix of things and Katja got everything documented for the project (and resort tickets, hehe).

We posted regular updates on the Untouched blog, so check there for more pics and story… teasers will be dropping in November and the video premieres around Christmas, so check back…

Ujuclips 2012

I have a privilege to do whatever I want with the clips for Ujusansa, so I try to play with a different techniques every year… last year I was really into timelapses, this year I dig contrasts and details…

The clips are pretty standardized, to give some cohesion for each summer, but a lot of different stuff goes down every term, so its worth checking. Some groups surf hard, some party hard and some just go all out every occasion possible, haha.

Click play below or check them on Ujusansa’s vimeo profile

Next three weeks I will be in Chile with Untouched crew, trying to get some winter shots with Bine and Maček, so I probably will not be posting regularly, but make sure you follow the Untouched blog to see what goes down on the other side of the world…

Take care of your filmer!

Summer is a time when skiers and snowboarders are mostly chillin’. But it is also a time when everybody needs to gather their footy for the upcoming videos and promos before the next winter.

Seppi Scholler and friends at Love are making their fourth full length video and I have send them Matevž Pristavec’s footy, so expect probably best part ever from MP also in the Loveolution IV! (Online right after Untouched project premieres ;))

What I did not expect was the coolest thankyou package from Seppi. I tought it is going to be some clothing, but it was way better. A Lomokino cam!

I love “toys” like that, instant shooting rules, haha. Me and my friend Luka Šmid filmed on VHS back in the days and I recently discovered my grandfathers 8mm (sadly not working), which hyped me to get my hands on this type of camera ever since… thanks bro, really appreciate it!
