Tirol with Untouched crew

I wanted to go back to Soelden with Untouched sometime in this season, as we had pretty successful shoot there last year. The mountains there have a lot of potential, but we could not go all out, while there was shitloads of sharks underneath.

This time we scored even better. New snow on Soelden and a promising Hochoetz resort were the bomb. It was a freeride mission basically, with our most experienced team member, Matevž Maček, and young skier, Andraž Šparovec.

We really pushed it from dusk till dawn each day, husling to get tickets, hiking woods and lines, late for the last lift everyday and then still filming scenics until sun went down.

It was hard core four days, but it payed off, like always when you put so much effort in it. More about the trip on Untouched blog

Recording sixteen hours a day

I am working shifts as miner in China, haha.

Today is the first day without holding a cam, since who knows when. We have been doing various stuff for Untouched (check the blog on our webpage) and shooting rails with Jibrothers and Vogel locals. George found a Mecca for street rails somewhere in Austria and we have been going back for three days. Night shoots, day shoots, exercising German… it is all part of the process. One thing we realized is that Austria is so far ahead from our post transition state, just because of their positive attitude towards things and a will to communicate and make compromises. No unnecessary yelling and threatening, just clear common sense and some effort on your side and you can ride a spot for days. Loving it!

Midnight troubles

We have one hell of a night behind us.

To start the evening off, we got kicked from the first spot by an aggressive Planina “native”, then we got all three cars locked inside the fenced parking and with temperatures around -20°C the spirits were low as it gets.

But Šparovc was not done and Katja, Šmid and me were not going to back down either. We went to some bridge rail into a natural bank and put in some after hour shoveling. Šmid was pulling Andraž with a car, so he could get enough speed and past 3AM we had some of the best street shots so far! Šparovc getting hollywood style inrun shots and a grind 450 out with a seizeble drop, was worth every frozen toe. Some hand brake drifting on the way back home was just the icing on the cake, haha!

Kranstrdam quicky

Strangely, we only have enough snow in our area, nothing few kilometers out in any direction. It is still lightly falling every day, so mission time is prolonged. Top notch!

We had a super quick hit with Jibrothers today, less than 20 minutes of filming on the rail at the wall. Great work, we are going for another one when it gets the dark…

Every snowflake counts

Every year we get some days, when snow embraces the cities. Since we were kids we always went jibbing some skaterail, but nowadays we use this days (or mostly nights) for filming real spots.

Jibrothers are on a mission all day, every day, so I got a message that we should go filming today, before I took a look through the window and noticed we got 10cm of white outside.

We gathered lights and shovels that have been waiting too long and hit the streets. Šparovc got two tricks in the bag in front of the mandatory crowd and the celebratory 2AM beer was well deserved. More to come in next days…

Planneralm sessions

The shooting with Jibrothers for Qparks on Planneralm was one of the best, period.

We drove into a foggy resort, filled with fresh snow. Did some lines, knee deep pow, certainly best breakfast a guy can have anytime in winter.

Later the skies cleared out, sun and bluebird for the rest of the day. Filmed a mellow session with skiers Andraž Šparovec and Uroš Podbevšek and another one with snowboarders Matthias Gober, Flo Galler and Dominick Weghaupt and still had time for another quick powder run before the sunset. Baus day, haha.

Check the session clips below…

Jibrothers in Planica

Today we got a little crew together and went for the first winter shots for the Jibrothers.

Andraž Šparovec, Agron Imeri and Uroš Podbevšek were eager to hit one of the most known rails in Planica, the home of the famous skiflying construction. The jumping hill is not the biggest anymore, but you can not erase the historical events that happened on this thing.

Anyway, we were more interested in rails around and it was a good decision, while it was the only place with enough snow in the streets in westerly part of Slovenia. There are three rails and everybody usually rides the shortest one, yet the Jibrothers pushed it up a notch and picked the middle one. I tested the new tripod (it is banging) and we got two shots and few pictures, which is a good start for the upcoming season.

B.I.G. Sunday for Slovenian surfers!

Big swell hit Portugal today and we were all on our toes if the famous Supertubos would be riddable, because we wanted to see, film and maybe even ride one of the fastest beachbreaks in Europe. It was closing out heavily, so we headed on to Conselacao reef, which was looking pretty big from afar.

Conselacao lefts were four meters plus, light offshore and no one out. Jernej Rakušček and Kostja Polc were the first one to give it a try, while the rest of us agreed it is no shame in walking away on a day like this, haha.

Jernej really scored, taking five waves and even pulled into a barrel and Kostja got a bomb that knocked him of the board.

Andraž Rakušček and Iztok Južnič Žonta manned up for a second session, which was also heavy as hell. Andraž got his leash ripped and got a swim of his life to the beach and Izi took a big cleaner set on the head while paddling out… they both got a taste of the waves as well and Andraž and Jernej even went for another session while the sun was setting down…

Some photos from Kanin

It was last day on last opened resort in Slovenia, Kanin Mt., so winter is officially over (if someone did not notice a month ago haha).

However it is always nice to spend some quality time in the mountains! Uroš and Agi went for the big kicker while Andraž, George and me had some fun on small corner jib… It is supposedly skate & surf season from now on, but you never know…

Last winter shooting

I came back from my last Qparks shooting in Kaprun. I was on Kitzsteinhorn for the last stop of Qparks Tour and Matevž Maček from Untouched and Andraž Šparovec from Jibrothers were nice enough to join me. It was actually a good decision to go, while Kitzsteinhorn got 40cm of new snow a week ago and it stayed fresh in the shadows. Guys did some hiking and we managed to shoot some banger lines right after the contest. I think the picture tells it all!

After we got to see Colby West on mega kicker (local parkdesigner Stefan Plattner stepped in for the snowboarders and he was all balls too) with more than a kilometer inrun. You do not get to see double corks on a special obstacles live everyday, haha.
